Call on Tim Hortons to End
Its Harry Potter Partnership

Tim Hortons is launching a Harry Potter promotion on August 12, 2026.

Harry Potter licensing generates royalties for J.K. Rowling, who has devoted significant time, influence, and financial resources – which she has acquired from the sale of Harry Potter merchandise – to campaigns opposing the rights and healthcare of trans people.

If you are concerned about this partnership, you can send an email message to Tim Hortons and Restaurant Brands International in solidarity with the trans community. Ask them to end the promotion and consider the impact of their licensing decisions.

The button below will open a pre-addressed email as a starting point. Please personalize it in your own words. When corporations receive identical messages, they often count them as a single response.

Discontinue Tims’ Harry Potter Promotion

Body:
Dear Tim Hortons and Restaurant Brands International,

I am writing as a long-time Tim Hortons customer who is deeply disappointed by your decision to partner with the Harry Potter franchise for your upcoming promotion.

This is not about the books themselves or the people who enjoy them. It is about the fact that Harry Potter licensing generates royalties for J.K. Rowling, who has become one of the world’s most influential and well-funded opponents of transgender rights and healthcare.

At a time when transgender people in Canada are facing increasing discrimination, hostility, and hate, this partnership sends a painful message that the profits associated with this brand matter more than the well-being of a vulnerable community.

Until this promotion ends, I have chosen not to patronize Tim Hortons. I respectfully ask that Restaurant Brands International reconsider this campaign, IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE IT, publicly acknowledge the harm it has caused, and commit to greater care when selecting future licensing partnerships.

As a company that has long presented itself as a place where everyone belongs, I hope Tim Hortons will demonstrate that commitment in ways that genuinely include transgender people.

Sincerely,

_____
