The Next 50 Years Campaign – Our Annual Year-End Appeal

Make a Year-End Appeal Gift

Throughout 2023, MCC Toronto has been celebrating its golden 50th Anniversary under the banner of 50 Years of Service, 50 Years of Action. We initiated a 50th Anniversary Time Capsule Project. We looked “Back in 1973” to see the happenings, trends and events that defined the year of our founding. We hosted a fun (and tasty!) 50th Anniversary Service and Community Picnic in July. We are soon to open a 50th Anniversary exhibition. And last month we hosted a 50th Anniversary Concert that intertwined narration, archival photographs and video, along with some of the best music of the last 50 years!

50 Years of Service, 50 years of Action, indeed!

But as we look beyond the foundational work of our first 50 years, what comes next? What will MCC Toronto look like over the next 50 years? How can we ensure that our work continues to be impactful both inside our spiritual home and beyond our walls?

What we’ll be remains to be discovered. But when it comes to the how, the answer is clear – Together! Together, we will create what comes next, and it’s going to be equally fabulous, if not more so!

With our newly launched Paul Austin Human Rights Centre and the continued roll-out of human rights programming, MCC Toronto has the momentum to be a major human rights organization. Even in its inaugural year, our public-facing programs aimed at 2SLGBTQ+ youth, touched the lives of over 500 queer young people. Next year, and the year after, will see the expansion of our programming, and the creation of more and more opportunities to change worlds and transform lives.

With the recent hiring of a new Senior Human Rights Director, MCC Toronto looks to advance the depth and impact of our advocacy work. We see that transphobia, antisemitism, and islamophobia are on the rise. We recognize that this hatred is fueled by some elected officials and, sadly and infuriatingly, by religious leaders. Fighting for the rights of all has always been part of our DNA, and that will always be part of who we are and what we do.

And who knows how MCC Toronto will evolve, theologically, to create ever-expanding circles of love for all people?  As it is written, “eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has in store for those who love God!”

But as we near the end of 2023, and following a challenging year in so many ways, we need your help.  For our Next 50 Years Campaign, we need to raise $125,000 by the end of the year to offset financial shortfalls in other areas.

Will you help?

By making a special gift in support of our year-end appeal, you will help ensure that MCC Toronto has the resources to continue to build out our spiritual and human rights work, while laying the groundwork for The Next 50 Years!
