Join The 519, PrideHouseTO and Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto at an interfaith gathering to bless PrideHouseTO and the participants in the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.
On July 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (MCC Toronto) will lead an interfaith blessing at PrideHouseTO for all Pan Am/Parapan Am Games participants. Spiritual leaders from around the city will join in peace and love to offer blessings from the many cultures and communities that inspire Toronto.
As we welcome athletes and guests from across the Americas, Toronto celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of every person. In a collaborative initiative, PrideHouseTO will create a safe and welcoming space for all participants in the 2015 Games including athletes, coaches, delegations and visitors. PrideHouseTO is located at the 519 Church Street Community Centre.
Among those blessing the Games participants at PrideHouseTO will be: Kevin Smith (Atheist – Centre for Inquiry Canada); Deana Dudley (Christian – MCC Toronto); Stephanie Lang (Wiccan – Wiccan Church of Canada); Ahna DiFelice (Unitarian – Neighbourhood Unitarian-Universalist Congregation); Rev. Warren Schell (Christian – United Church of Canada); El-Farouk Khaki (Muslim – Toronto Unity Mosque); Yogi Akal (Sikh – Sikh Dharma International).
The Quran teaches “God does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition” (Quran 13:11). Through persistence, stamina and courage, we can all overcome adversity and achieve our full potential.
MCC Toronto is one of Canada’s leading progressive Christian churches with an international reputation for promoting human rights. In 2001, MCC Toronto performed the first legal same-sex marriages in the country. Toronto Mayor John Tory has called MCC Toronto “the epicenter of the protection of Canadian values.”
