Vigil aims to ease community grief to make space for joy
As police continue their investigation into recent murders in the Church-Wellesley Village, there is a sense among many within the community that it will be hard to celebrate Pride amid the grief and mourning. In response, the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, located in the city’s Riverdale neighbourhood, will hold a candlelight vigil at 7:00 on Sunday evening, June 3. This Pride Community Event will be a time for healing, remembrance and support. All are welcome.
“Pride is a time for celebration and love, but we should not ignore our sadness. Coming together in our grief is one way to heal and make room in our hearts for more joy,” said Rev. Jeff Rock, senior pastor at MCC Toronto.
