SPIRITUAL PREPARATION FOR GENERAL CONFERENCE 2016
from the Council of Elders
In the days to come–it is our God who speaks–
“I will pour out my Spirit on all humankind.
Your children will prophesy,
Your young people will see visions,
And your elders will dream dreams.”
Acts 2:17 (quoting Joel 3:1)
In preparation for the historic General Conference XXVI, the Council of Elders invites MCCers everywhere to engage in a daily spiritual practice of praying for God’s grace, wisdom, and inspiration to fill our General Conference. Join us as we pray for the Holy Spirit to breathe its compassionate wisdom and understanding upon the many different people who make up Metropolitan Community Churches.
Beginning May 24th, we encourage you to set aside 5 minutes of each day, for the 40 days leading up to General Conference.
Sit in silence and listen to the gentle flow of your breath, coming in and going out. Set your intention, in these 5 minutes of silence, for God’s will to descend upon those attending General Conference, just as the Holy Spirit descended upon the disparate followers of Jesus during Pentecost. Together in the silence we will wait on the “still small voice” of our God, as we open our hearts, preparing to meet the Holy Spirit in Victoria, BC.
