Creating Safe Spaces for People of Colour to Share
To give People of Colour an opportunity to share their experience of what it’s like being a person of colour in Canada; in this city and specifically in our church. This will be a healing, confidential space for participants.
Healing Racism: A workshop for White People Educating White People About Racism (Caroline O’Reilly)
What does racism have to do with me? Why do white people even need to talk about it? What do I really think and feel about racism? Does anyone else think they might be racist? Am I racist? I want to be an ally but I don’t really know what that means…or how to do it. Let’s examine these questions (and more) in an intimate setting, where it is safe to “get it wrong”; grow, learn and further open our hearts. This workshop will include both large and small group discussions and reading materials (for reflection and discussion). Participants are asked to respect the confidentiality of group members.
3-4 PM Closing exercises: one person from each group reports back. What ideas do we have for healing racism in our communities? Closing thoughts.
Share communion & thank yous.
We hope you can make it. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
