A Statement from MCC Toronto’s Board of Directors

Dear MCC Toronto Family,

Following the Town Hall meeting last Sunday (February 5), we have heard you.

While our intention as your MCC Toronto Board of Directors was to start a process of providing meaningful opportunities to hear and address your views/concerns, we realize with regret that we failed in our execution of the first Town Hall. We understand that many more of you had questions/points you wanted to raise and that the format and limited timeframe left some participants (in-person and online) with a sense of disappointment, frustration and hurt.

Quite frankly, you deserved better. We ask for your forgiveness.

Since the Town Hall, we have heard from dozens of congregants, through emails, phone calls or comments on our Facebook Community Group page. We appreciate your frankness and suggestions, and please know we agree – your Board needs to do better. And we will.

To that end, we have asked MCC Toronto staff to set up our next Town Hall meeting for Sunday, March 5, following the Worship Service. We will change the format to enable as many of you who want to speak, the space and time to do so. We will listen more, respond better, and hopefully – together – move to a place of better understanding.

While we know this has been a difficult and confusing time for our faith family, we ask for your continued prayers and belief in our beloved church home.

Please continue to send us your thoughts and feedback to bofd@mcctoronto.com.

Sincerely,

Bradley Hickman, Co-Chair
