Celebrate Pride 2020 with us!

Greetings MCC Toronto Family and Faithful,

In the same way that you cannot cancel church, you can only close the building – you also cannot cancel Pride. Because Pride is much more than a parade or a party. It is also a protest, a coming together of diverse communities, and a push towards self-acceptance and self-love.

That’s why MCC Toronto’s theme for Pride 2020 is “Rainbow Connected: Show Your Pride” as we seek to celebrate pride, strengthen community, and ensure human rights for all.

Think of the many LGBTQ2S+ youth in this time of isolation without supportive home lives, think of the many potential LGBTQ+ refugees unable to escape violence with closed borders, think of the many LGBTQ2S+ folks disproportionately affected by economic uncertainty in this era of COVID-19.

Now more than ever, we MUST share love, build connections, and speak up in support of the full diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression in our world.

Join us by participating in our special 30 Ways to #ShowYourPride Over 30 Days social media challenge, where we will ask you to do one small act every day in the month of June to celebrate, learn, and speak up.

Please be sure to download or print our #ShowYourPride calendar below and check our social media channels daily for instructions and updates.

Along with our #ShowYour Pride social media challenge, we will be hosting a special “Homosexuality and the Bible Workshop” on June 10 and 17 at 7 p.m. on ZOOM. Stay tuned for more details about the workshop.

We’ll also have special Pride-themed Worship Services being live-streamed every Sunday in June at 11 a.m. Special guest performers are scheduled every week, starting with Devon Hubka on June 7, Billy Newton-Davis on June 14 and Brenda MacIntyre on June 21.

All culminating with MCC Toronto’s 28th Annual Pride Celebration Service on June 28 at 11 a.m.

While it won’t quite be “Church on Church” on Pride Sunday this year, our iconic Pride Celebration Service will be live-streamed to the comfort of your own home with musical guest performances by Jackie Richardson, Dana Jean Phoenix, Erica Peck, as well as the always wonderful Choir of MCC Toronto.

Rev. Deana Dudley will be sharing a Lesson for Life on Divine Feminine: Celebrating ALL women, ALL girls, and ALL things female and feminine.
