A
warm thank you to everyone who took part in creating
and celebrating our service at Pride Toronto.
Rev.
Dr. Brent Hawkes addressed over 1200 attendees at our annual open-air
church service on
Church Street with his captivating sermon, "Fear Not!".
Complimented by our Choir and guest performers,
Thom Allison,
Julie Michels, Dawn Sinclair and GLAD (Gays and Lesbians of African Decent),

A Union of
Faith
Canadians For Equal Marriage and MCC Toronto rallies with
supporters including interfaith religious leaders.
On Sunday, April 10, 2005, Rev. Dr.
Brent Hawkes presented Alex Munter, CEM Spokesperson with a petition
containing the names of nearly 200 Canadian Religious Leaders
from
The United Church of Canada; Anglican Church of Canada; Unitarian
Church; Catholic Church; Lutheran Church; Congregation of Iyr HaMelech
and many other organizations
who
have
already
added their names in support of Equal Marriage rights.
People were drawn from the
street into the church by the thunderous applause of over 500
supporters in response to speakers Rev. Dr.
Brent Hawkes, Senior Pastor of MCC Toronto; Lois Wilson, Former
Moderator of the United Church; Tarek Fatah, Co-Founder of the
Canadian Muslim Congress; and
Jane Orion Smith, Chair of KAIROS:
Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives.
"The equal marriage bill is a win-win for Canada ó it ends exclusion
and it protects
religious freedom and that's why it deserves to be
passed."
Alex Munter
"You cannot be religious and discriminate at the same time."
Tarek Fatah
"It is not a Canadian value to play politics with religion."
Rev. Dr. Brent
Hawkes
The energy of our rally was
bolstered by the MCC Toronto Choir,
joined by Tony Award Nominee
Louise Pitre.
Through the passion of song and
words spoken, the message was heard by supporters.
United we pray that the politicians and society also hear our message.
