SJN Movie Night

Our justice night has the theme of Indigenous Rights and Issues and we will be screening:

1. Feature: Trick or Treaty? – by Alanis Obomsawin
Synopsis: This feature documentary by acclaimed filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin profiles Indigenous leaders in their quest for justice as they seek to establish dialogue with the Canadian government.

2. Short: Unknown – by Shaynah Decontie Thusky
Synopsis: Two years ago, Maisy and Shannon disappeared. The media did not cover the event, even while this situation has become alarmingly common in communities.

3. Short: Uprooted Generation – by Réal Junior Leblanc
Synopsis: A young Innu returns to the sight of the Indian Residential School in Sept-Îles to deliver a poetic tribute to its victim. The school ran from 1951 to 1972.

As always, a suggested donation of $10.00 is appreciated, but the screenings are always PWYC (Pay-What-You-Can), and even if you cannot afford anything, please come join us anyway.
