  • ALLIANCE HOSPICE (formerly Bayview Community Hospice)
Alliance Hospice serves as a resource to the community for end-of-life care and related issues.
In 2004 MCC Toronto merged our CommunityCARE Home Hospice with then Bayview Community Hospice. Our continuing relationship with Alliance offers those in our community the chance to die at home with dignity- and with care and respect for our relationships and families. MCC Toronto continues to supply client care volunteers to Alliance and trains volunteers to understand the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the clients. Alliance shares MCC Toronto's value of diversity, and is committed to providing compassionate hospice and palliative care to the GLBT community. For information e-mail CongregationalLife@MCCToronto.com.

  • WELLSPRING CANCER SUPPORT CENTRES
Wellspring is a network of centres that provide emotional and psychological support, free of charge, to individuals and families living with cancer. In 2004 MCC Toronto and Wellspring formed a first of its kind support group - for lesbians and their partners living with cancer. In 2005, our partnership with Wellspring broadened, as a group was formed for the specific needs of gay men. Both of these groups meet in a safe, supporting, nurturing environment where the sharing of unique journeys and personal experiences creates a space that meets the special needs of the GLBT community. For information regarding either group, contact CSG@MCCToronto.com

"I'm thrilled about this program but again it is bitter sweet in terms of needing this group. I think it's a great opportunity for our organization and for Wellspring and it makes so much sense to do this. There is no other group like this in Toronto. It's wonderful that we are again able to reach out into our community and provide this much needed service." Jennifer Alexander.
