Spring Jazz Vespers

Adventurous Jazz

Magical, Inspiring and Uplifting!

From L to R: Attila Fias, Ross MacIntyre, Colleen Allen and Heather Bambrick.

The spring concert featuring a variety of professional musicians from Toronto was a
spiritually dynamic musical celebration embedded in jazz. The multi-layered music was
strongly melodic, deep and reflective. As noted by Rev. Sam Morris, “Jazz Vespers is
one of the best kept secrets in Toronto”

Featured musicians included JUNO-nominated Jazz vocalist Heather Bambrick, saxophone
superstar Colleen Allen, multi-faceted pianist Attila Fias and expressive bowing by
bassist Ross MacIntyre.

Some of the selections included “I Can See Clearly Now” by Jimmy Cliff and “Nature
Boy” by Nat King Cole. Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto’s Musical Director,
Diane Leah indicated that “I think this is a wonderful kind of worship and would love
to be able to do it once a month.”

Rev. Deana Dudley shared her thoughts on the sound concept of the universe. Thanks
also to Jim Woodbridge on sound and to Sheryl Pollock who collected the offering.

Throughout the program, the MCC Toronto audience was supportive, applauded each piece strongly
and gave the group a standing ovation at the end of the performance.

Jazz Vespers has enough depth and variety to make all upcoming performances a more
than worthwhile experience. Don’t miss the next Jazz Vespers concerts coming up in the Fall.
