Homecoming is our annual fall gathering to welcome each other back from our Summer holidays. Come home to MCC Toronto anytime during the weekend of September 16 and 17 to celebrate the return from our travels and adventures, reconnecting with family and friends, and the beginning of Fall!
We have a wonderful line-up of events to help you switch gears and re-unite with the routines and schedules of autumn. Join us at any or all of these activities:
Saturday September 16
Dudettes with opening acts Ricky Yorke and Diane Leah, Kendrew Pape
A show for anyone who has loved to sing a song they really had no business singing, Dudettes takes some of Broadway’s greatest duets sung by women and gives them a fresh twist. At times hysterical, and other moments touching, Dale Miller (Annie, Les Misérables) and Ryan Kelly (Mamma Mia, The Normal Heart) pay homage to the divas of the Great White Way, sharing stories and singing their songs as if they were their own. Accompanied by the impressive Aaron Eyre, these Dudettes are sure to have you laughing and leave you singing! A one night only event you won’t want to miss! September 16 in the Social Hall with two opening acts! Ricky Yorke and Diane Leah have been performing together since 1988. Ricky’s unique voice, along with Diane’s way with a piano, make them an entertaining (if often annoying) duo. Our Communications team leader, Kendrew Pape, will entertain us with a few original songs on his guitar. Pay-What-You-Can: Saturday September 16, 7:30 p.m.
Sunday September 17
Social Justice Network Picnic
Please join the Social Justice Network as part of our faith and fellowship celebration during homecoming weekend for the Getting To Know You part 2 picnic on Sunday, September 17th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Clubhouse in Riverdale Park East. This will be a potluck gathering so please bring a dish to share! We’ll also enjoy a variety of games and activities – bring a frisbee or a soccer ball and join the fun!
Join us in the Sanctuary at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday September 17th for a special Homecoming edition of our Jazz Vespers series featuring Julie Michels (vocals), Michael Shand (piano), Ross McIntyre (bass) and Jamie Drake (drums). Jazz Vespers at MCC Toronto is a long running and critically acclaimed music series that brings a different kind of warmth and soul to our Sanctuary. Previous performances have attracted large crowds and generous donations for this pay-what-you-can event. If you haven’t yet enjoyed our Jazz Vespers, you’re in for a treat! Don’t miss this inspired musical afternoon featuring some of the best jazz musicians in Toronto.
