Legacy Circle – Planned Giving

As part of your long-term financial planning, a planned gift can offer you substantial tax and estate planning benefits. It is a way for you to leave a lasting legacy and secure our ministry for future generations and save taxes with gifts of stock, life insurance, annuities, trusts and bequests. It’s a way for you to be a key MCC Toronto supporter while meeting your personal financial goals.

Bequests

MCC Toronto as Beneficiary

Make a gift of cash or property by including MCC Toronto as a beneficiary in your Will. It’s one of the simplest Planned Giving options to arrange and it can significantly reduce the tax paid by your estate. If you want your estate to be handled according to your wishes, you should have a Will. Without a Will, a public trustee decides on the distribution of your possessions.

Gift-In-Kind

Gifts of Property

A gift-in-kind is a gift of property such as real estate, securities, artwork, jewellery or collectibles. After independent appraisals, MCC Toronto will issue you a tax receipt. In some cases, you can receive tax benefits and continue to use the gift during your lifetime.

Life Insurance

MCC Toronto as Beneficiary

You can make a larger gift than you might expect possible by naming MCC Toronto as the owner and beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy The premiums you pay qualify for a tax credit. When you transfer ownership of an existing policy to MCC Toronto, you receive a tax credit for the cash surrender value. A gift of life insurance is separate from your estate and has no effect on its assets.

Securities

Stocks, Bonds, Shares

You can support MCC Toronto with a gift of publicly traded Securities, including stocks, bonds, shares and mutual funds. Deliver your certificates to the church office signed over to MCC Toronto, along with a letter stating you are donating them to MCC Toronto and advise us where you want these funds designated. We will send these securities to our broker and issue you a tax receipt for the closing price of the security for the day on which our broker receives it.
